Ethereum reached a historic new high of $4,891.70 on November 16, 2021. In 2022, ETH was accompanied by a wider cryptocurrency market decline, falling below $1,000 in the middle-year decline period. The transition to the interest certificate (fusion), the improvement of the Layer 2 acceptance, and the support for the U.S. approval of Ethereum ETFs in July 2024, the price has been rebounded between 2023-2024. Cryptocurrency prices are highly volatile, and historical price levels do not represent future performance.
Ethereum’s prices are shaped by a variety of factors, including the overall cryptocurrency market situation, Bitcoin’s price movements, Ethereums main network network use and transaction volume, Layer 2 acceptance (affecting the main network gas fees and ETH destruction rates), ETH ETF’s money input, ETH locked in quota deposits. The balance between the proportions (reduction of circulating supply), the new ETH emissions resulting from the deposit bonus and the ETH destroyed by transaction costs, the regulatory dynamics, and the wider macroeconomic conditions, such as interest rates and global risk emotions. Like all cryptocurrencies, ETH has a significant price volatility. The factors listed above are for reference only and should not be interpreted as price forecasts.
Not included. Unlike the fixed limit of Bitcoin of 2,1 million, Ethereum has no maximum supply. However, after two upgrades, the supply dynamics of Ethereum changed fundamentally: EIP-1559 (August 2021) introduced a mechanism to destroy part of the transaction fee, permanently removing ETH from circulation; and the merge (September 2022) translated the network from workload to interest certificate, which would make it possible for the EIP-1559 to be able to make it easier. The new ETH emissions decreased about 90%. When the network is active enough and the ETH destroyed due to the cost of provision exceeds the ETh issued as a deposit bonus, the total supply of Ethereum will be reduced, thus putting it temporarily into a congestive state. When the network activity is low, the volume of distribution exceeds the amount of destruction and the supply increases. By 2026, the total circulation supply is about 1.20.5 billion ETHs.
